Balance At Work is pleased to offer yoga classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays in the Phoenix Room.

Classes are beginner friendly with options to increase the challenge.

Please bring a yoga mat & water (no mat required for Tuesday lunch-hour session).

Workday De-Stress Yoga

Take a stress break
Take some time for yourself mid-week. Anyone will benefit from this series designed to stretch and strengthen the entire body, targeting those areas that suffer most from prolonged sitting. Guaranteed to relieve stress and leave you feeling energized.

Desk/Chair Stretches

Learn stretches and movements you can do at your desk
Sitting all day starting at a computer takes a heavy toll on physical and mental health. During these sessions, we’ll do a number of stretches and movements in chairs/at tables. Sure to feel good in the movement, but also filled with things you can do at your desk throughout the day.

Beginner friendly with variations and options for all.

De-Stress/Yin

Let go of the workday
The first 20 minutes of classes will involve gentle stretching and strengthening. We’ll then shift to a Yin practice, which is deeper stretches held for longer periods of time to stretch connective tissues.

Beginner-friendly and extremely relaxing!

What happens after August?

  • The Tuesday 7:30am and Thursday 5:45pm classes -will continue. Space for CMHA employees will be limited in these classes, as they are public classes that already have several students enrolled. CMHA employees will be able to purchase 10-class passes for these classes for only $100, including HST (usually $135).
  • The Tuesday lunch-hour and/or the Thursday 4:45pm classes will be for CMHA employees only. They will continue if there is enough interest (minimum 6 registrants required for the session to run). Sessions will run for 2 calendar months at a time (starting Sept-Oct). CMHA employees will be able to pre-register and pre-pay for these sessions at $7/class for Tuesdays (30 min) and $10/class on Thursdays (45 min). Fees include HST. The total fee for each 2-month session will depend on the number of Tuesdays & Thursdays in the 2-month period.

Andrew Jobes

Yoga Instructor

Andrew Jobes is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500, eRYT-200) who has taught almost 2,000 yoga classes and workshops since 2013. He leads weekly yoga-meditation sessions for CMHA’s TAY DD clients, teaches at Moksha Yoga Peterborough, and owns and operates Balance At Work, which specializes in workplace wellness services, yoga classes, workshops, and Reiki treatments.

Andrew has completed 500-hour Hatha, 100-hour Vinyasa (Flow), and 15-hour Trauma-sensitive Yoga Teacher Trainings. He recently took an 18-hour Love Your Brain training to support students with acquired brain injuries. He worked for the MNRF for 10 years and understands the physical and mental stresses of the workplace. Andrew coordinates and teaches yoga classes for the Robinson Place Lunch-hour Wellness Program, and has provided educational presentation and led workplace wellness workshops and yoga classes for several Peterborough employers. He’s pleased to help CMHA staff find balance in their minds and bodies.
